
Sounds Right is a voluntary self help organisation based in Scunthorpe. It works with people with a broad range of hearing impairment together with their families, carers and friends. There are currently 40 members and 100 people on the information database.
The group is active in the local community working on a variety of initiatives. They provide the following:
A voice / vote in the future
Access to training and skills-building events
A free newsletter to all those listed on their database
The provision of communication support at activities and events
Peer support and friendship
Help training in using environmental aids
Access to a supportive environment in which to develop communication skills
Respond to members identified needs.
To work towards improving awareness, access, understanding and fellowship in all areas and issues associated with hearing loss.
To create situations which empower all people with hearing loss to have freedom of choice, along with the knowledge and skills which will enable them to have full and equal participation within our community
